Oregon BOB State Champions!!!
Pilgrim Lutheran School is the home to the 2010 Oregon Battle of the Books state champions. Over 200 elementary schools from around the state competed in regional competitions during the month of March. The top two schools from each region went on to compete at the state tournament at Chemeketa Community College on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Pilgrim Lutheran school won the State Championship for grades 3 – 5.

The
Battle of the Books is a statewide program organized by the Oregon Association of School Libraries (OASL) that promotes reading and teamwork. Students formed teams of 4 to 5 members and then read 16 books on a state list. The students participate in battles in which two teams must answer comprehension questions about all 16 books. An estimated 2,800 students participated in the program across the state. Each student on Pilgrim Lutheran’s winning team; Abby Groh, Austin Arnold, Daria Wonderlick, Hedeeyeh Saberian, and K’reisa Cox read over 3,516 pages and 641,962 words to prepare for the competition.
